Dr. Edem Mahu

Project Lead

Dr. Mahu holds a faculty position at the Department of Marine and Fisheries Sciences of the University of Ghana where she teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Marine Science. Specifically, she teaches the chemical oceanography, marine geoscience, marine geochemistry and marine pollution courses in the Department.

She is currently the Principal Investigator of an International Foundation for Science (IFS) Funded Project that is researching human health risks associated with the consumption of seafood polluted with heavy metals from Ghanaian coastal waters.

Anthony Selorm Kofituo Morrison

(Project Partner)

Mr. Anthony is the CEO – Chamber of Agribusiness Ghana. He also serves on a number of boards. He is the chairman of the Ghana Agriculture Sector Skills Council and also that of the West Africa Agribusiness Chamber (Interest Groups). 

He is a management committee member of the University of Ghana School of Agriculture, Legon. Mr Anthony is a member of FASDEP II & III Technical Committee for Ghana’s Agriculture Sector Policy Review (MOFA). He serves as the Managing Director of Farm Master’s Africa Ltd. He is a seasoned speaker and represented at the Speaker Africa Fertilizer Conference in Cape Town in 2020.

Mr. Michael Portuphy

(Project Partner)

Mr. Michael Portuphy is currently a Research Development Officer (RDO) with the Office of Research, Innovation and Development, University of Ghana. He works with the College of Basic and Applied Sciences (CBAS) serving as an industry liaison officer with strong links to industry. His role is to facilitate engagement with external stakeholders in strengthening industry-academia interaction. 

Mr. Portuphy has Master of Philosophy degree in radiation protection and a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry with over 7-years’ experience in the pharmaceuticals and academic sectors.

Dr. Daniel Darko

(Project Partner)

Daniel Amoako Darko is a Soil Scientist with a background in Soil Physics and Conservation. He is a Research Fellow with the Institute for Environment and Sanitation Studies (IESS).

His current research focus includes:

  • Use of Soil Amendments to Improve Soil Quality and Health.
  • Management of Soil Carbon and Plant Nutrients Dynamics in Soils.
  • Transport of Agrochemicals and Contaminants in Soil and Water.

Dr Isaac Wiafe

(Project Partner)

Dr Isaac Wiafe holds a PhD in Informatics and an MSc in Applied Informatics from the University of Reading, UK. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana. His research is focused on human-computer behaviour change. He is the inventor of the 3-Dimensional Relationship between Attitude and Behaviour Model (3D-RAB): a robust model for gathering systems requirement for persuasive technology design.

Currently, Dr Wiafe is the head of the Intelligence Spaces and Machine Learning lab at Department of Computer Science, University of Ghana, where he is leading advanced research in AI applications for Human development.

Mr. Emmanuel Brempong

(Research Assistant)

Mr. Emmanuel Brempong K. is currently a graduate student completing his MPhil in Marine Science in the department of Marine and Fisheries Sciences.

He holds a degree in Marine Science with coastal geomorphology in Marine Science.
